Just north of the Mauna Lani area is beautful coastline that stretches to Puako Beach.
Every time I go to Puako, I see something new. The Honu peeked out of the water just as I was taking my swim. He became a part of the kai, the ocean. Enjoy my vision of Puako as I see it, as I feel it. Aloha, Sunny

KONA, HAWAII’S BIG ISLAND . The 39th annual Kona Coffee Cultural Festival, themed as “Kona Coffee – Aroma of Aloha” features artwork by Sunny Pauole on Festival collateral pieces including button, magazine, poster, retail and website. Pauole was the 2008 Gevalia Kona Coffee Art Exhibit winner for “Coffee-Picking” two-dimensional painting
Pauole commented, “Kona and its coffee are a tight-knit community and the inclusion of an art exhibit as part of the Festival has been a great opportunity for our local artists. I’ve been painting most of my life and being in Kona for 20 years has nourished my creativity. Just like coffee, I have grown well here too!”

The Kona Coffee Cultural Festival is recognized and supported as a ‘Major Festival’ by Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) as the Festival showcases Hawaii’s unique culture and diversity. HTA was created in 1998 to ensure a successful visitor industry well into the future. Its mission is to strategically manage the growth of Hawaii’s visitor industry in a manner consistent with its economic goal, cultural values, preservation of natural resources and community interests.

The Kona Coffee Cultural Festival is supported by UCC Ueshima Coffee Company Ltd, Gevalia Kaffe, Kamehameha Schools, Keauhou Resort, KTA Super Stores, Sunra Coffee, County of Hawaii Department of Research and Development and numerous corporate and community donors.

Please watch the video of my progress on this 15 x 9 foot mural painted for a private home in Kukio, Big Island. I began the mural on April 30, 2009 and scompleted it on June1. It has been an incredible experience. The sky changes dramatically as I work and so the mural adjusts to the light as the day evolves. Susan wants a peaceful work on art...the wall is becoming a part of the home, which is becoming more beautiful each day. Kua Bay is seen below the edge of the property and the turquoise water seems unreal. Sunday is Mother’s Day and I will be painting... a new life.
